The City of Ro\u017e\u0148ava<\/em>, in cooperation with several partners, provided comprehensive assistance in integrating children who fled war in Ukraine and their families into the local community. <\/strong> They created a safe environment for them and promoted social cohesion in the city through various activities.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Buddy programme<\/span><\/i> received very positive feedback <\/span>as it fostered numerous friendships between Ukrainian and Slovak children and their families,<\/strong> which continued even after the project ended. The support provided by Slovak children to Ukrainian children contributed to better integration of Ukrainian students into the school environment. Strong friendships developed outside of school, with children spending time together and visiting each other on weekends.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

In collaboration with a mentor, a comprehensive report on the project was prepared for the city council. Subsequently, the city council committed to continuing the activities<\/strong>, incorporating them into the community plan, and allocating a budget for their continuation.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

“<\/span><\/span>The project has improved relationships not only within the local Ukrainian community but also with the local Slovak population. Ukrainian children have successfully integrated into the school environment, and the inclusion process is being fulfilled thanks to the work of field social workers. The municipality of Ro\u017e\u0148ava plans to continue supporting the Ukrainian community in all aspects in the future.<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

This<\/span> school<\/span> is<\/span> one of the leading schools<\/strong><\/span> in<\/span> Slovakia in terms of implementing inclusive<\/span> practices<\/span><\/strong> in education<\/strong>. The<\/span>support <\/span> from<\/span> the<\/span> Together for Children<\/em> programme<\/span>has<\/em> enabled<\/span> them<\/span> to develop<\/span> this<\/span> work further.<\/span> The school <\/span> integrated inclusive<\/strong><\/span> strategies<\/span> into<\/span> the school’s daily<\/span> <\/strong>life and <\/strong> strengthened <\/strong><\/span>the <\/span><\/strong>support team<\/strong> <\/span>by employing a Ukrainian assistant and<\/span>a therapeutic<\/span>pedagogue<\/span> .<\/span> The school\u2019s<\/span>principal<\/span> shared<\/span>their<\/span> learning<\/span> and gained know-how<\/span> with other schools <\/span>and <\/span>educational policy-makers <\/span>at the <\/span>International Conference on Inclusive Education,<\/strong><\/a> <\/span>organized<\/span> as part <\/span> of the<\/span> Together<\/span> for<\/span> Children programme<\/span><\/em><\/a>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

“During the implementation of the project, the number of children from Ukraine receiving assistance from the Ukrainian assistant fluctuated. Since September, she has been more intensively involved with first graders, where we have both <\/span>Ukrainian<\/span> and Arabic-speaking <\/span> children.<\/span> There has been a shift in attitudes from the teachers; initial concerns have subsided, and the assistance provided by the Ukrainian assistant to children incoming from other countries is much appreciated. <\/span>Thanks to the project, the role of the therapeutic pedagogue has been greatly strengthened, and there is increasing interest in <\/span>his<\/span> therapeutic services.”<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Thanks to the support of the Together for Children programme,<\/em><\/a> the grantee (a networking center for nonprofits and activists OZ Different) has established a new low-threshold center <\/strong> on its premises in the town of Bardejov. This center provides comprehensive education and care services for children living in Bardejov.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

They also created a co-working space for other NGOs<\/strong> working on the social inclusion of various groups living in the town. As a result of the project, the NGO People in the Peril has stable office space at Ba\u0161ta, gaining a foundation for working with the local Ukrainian and Roma communities. The two organizations started collaborating on Ba\u0161ta’s programme for the local public, organizing discussions, concerts, and other formats together<\/strong> to help improve the quality of life for vulnerable groups in Bardejov. Their activities also received support from the local government.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

“<\/span><\/span>The center’s external communication about the importance of inclusion has become an integral part of our work. This project has also significantly contributed to initiating long-term collaborations with other stakeholders addressing this issue. Inklucentrum<\/span> piloted and scaled up two psychosocial support programmes for Ukrainian children<\/strong><\/span> in schools<\/span><\/strong> and strengthened inclusive approaches <\/span>in education<\/span> across<\/span> the whole <\/span>Slovakia<\/span>.<\/span> Not only children from abroad <\/span>but<\/span> also other children with additional needs <\/span>received<\/span> necessary <\/span>support<\/span>.<\/span> They partnered with<\/span>Counselling<\/span>and<\/span>Psychology<\/span> Centers<\/span> (CPP)<\/span> (<\/span>and<\/span>ten<\/span>elementary schools. <\/span>The <\/span>piloted programmes included establishing a new model of psycho-pedagogical<\/strong><\/span> teams<\/span><\/strong>, including<\/strong> assistants in schools, and<\/span><\/span> trainings<\/span><\/strong> on topics<\/span>such<\/span> as<\/span>nonviolent<\/span> communication<\/span>and<\/span> collaboration<\/span> between assistants<\/span> and teachers. <\/span>Inklucentrum<\/span> piloted programmes <\/span>at five schools in Bratislava and expanded<\/span>them<\/span> to <\/span>ten <\/span>more.<\/span>.<\/span> Based on the experiences and knowledge gained, <\/span>they created<\/span> manuals<\/span> shared<\/span><\/strong> with<\/span> 100<\/span> schools<\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

“<\/span>The <\/span><\/span> project<\/span> developing the support for<\/span> Ukrainian children<\/span> is<\/span> one<\/span> of the largest <\/span> endeavors in the history of<\/span> our<\/span> organization. It<\/span> has<\/span> brought<\/span> a<\/span> fundamental<\/span> change<\/span> for<\/span> hundreds of Ukrainian children. Children have received regular support, <\/span>developed<\/span> a<\/span> sense<\/span> of security,<\/span> and received<\/span> tailored<\/span> psychosocial<\/span> and<\/span> language<\/span> suppor<\/span>t.<\/span>. We have opened up several important topics of inclusive education, inspired schools to introduce morning circles, achieved the opening of the topic of therapeutic groups in the counseling system, and connected and networked people.<\/span><\/span>\u201c<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The project increased <\/strong><\/span> access<\/span> to<\/span> and quality of<\/span> inclusive<\/span> approaches<\/span> in<\/span> early<\/span> childhood<\/span> education<\/span> and care of <\/span> vulnerable<\/span> children<\/span> at the community level. <\/span><\/strong>. <\/span>It focused <\/span>on vulnerable children,<\/span>, <\/span>children with health disabilities, <\/span>or<\/span> multiple<\/span>health<\/span>disabilities,<\/span>taking <\/span>into <\/span>account<\/span>the individual needs of each child. <\/span>Thanks<\/span> to the supported project,<\/span> EFFETA<\/span>expanded<\/span> its<\/span> early <\/span>intervention services<\/span> for<\/span> families with children<\/span>with disabilities <\/span>and<\/span>delayed development.<\/span>. <\/span>They increased the number<\/span> of supported families<\/span>,<\/strong> including<\/span> families<\/span> of<\/span> refugees<\/span> from Ukraine.<\/span> The project enabled<\/span> stimulation of children’s development in their home environment and improved<\/span> the<\/span> diagnostic process.<\/span><\/strong>The<\/span> project<\/span> also<\/span> enhanced psychological counseling for parents<\/strong><\/span> and caregivers<\/strong><\/span> and<\/span> facilitated community life for families through<\/span> various activities.<\/span> <\/span>You can read about how EFFETA helped little Oliver and his mom HERE<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

“<\/span><\/span>By expanding programmes and enhancing care and education services at the community level, we have become a more stable provider of inclusive services in the region. Since its inception, our organization has advocated for a fully <\/span> inclusive <\/span>approach for vulnerable children in the region.<\/span> We<\/span> were<\/span> established to <\/span>enable vulnerable children and their families to live as inclusively as possible in the community and their natural environment.
