At the International Conference on Inclusive Education, “A Way Forward In Slovakia,” experts from Portugal, Switzerland, Belgium, Greece, <\/span> the USA, Serbia, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic,<\/span> and Slovakia shared many important experiences, inspirations, and lessons from inclusive education. Recordings of insightful lectures, presentations, or workshops can be viewed in the videos in this article.<\/span><\/h5>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The conference <\/span>took place on 4. December 4th and 5th in Bratislava<\/span> ,<\/span> w<\/span>ith<\/span> 30 education policy experts and creators<\/strong> from<\/span> both domestic and international backgrounds <\/span> speaking<\/span>.<\/span> O<\/span>v<\/span>e<\/span>r<\/span> 160 guests <\/strong> attended, including <\/span>representatives from ministries, public institutions, schools, and the non-governmental sector. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Together, they<\/span> presented and discussed<\/span> experiences related to<\/span><\/strong><\/span> <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/strong>poli<\/span>cies<\/span>,<\/span> systems<\/span>, and practices<\/span> of<\/span><\/strong> quality inclusive education<\/strong>. <\/span>They agreed <\/span> that initial and ongoing teacher education is key<\/strong> to achieving the desired competencies for all children and next phases<\/span> of educational<\/span> reform<\/span> in Slovakia.<\/span> The event also aimed<\/span> to<\/span> discuss progress in inclusive education in Slovakia<\/strong><\/span> and<\/span> identify persistent barriers <\/strong> to ensuring quality education for every child<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Opening speeches addressed current efforts towards developing an inclusive society and implementing inclusive education in Slovakia<\/strong>, along with the associated challenges for our educational system. Status of policy reforms for education quality and inclusion in Slovakia <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The curriculum reform within<\/span> the Recovery Plan<\/em> includes the introduction of inclusive elements into the educational process<\/strong> and the strengthening of teachers’ competencies<\/strong>. Part of this effort is <\/span>the Catalog of Support Measures,<\/span><\/i>which aims to help create a supportive system in schools<\/strong> for all children without distinction. K\u00e1lm\u00e1n Pet\u0151cz <\/em> (Ministry of Education of the SR) and Svetlana S\u00edthov\u00e1 <\/em> (NIVAM) discussed how these mechanisms will be implemented in practice.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Experiences from practice<\/strong> at the level of primary schools were shared by Jana Bavo\u013e\u00e1rov\u00e1<\/em>, the headmaster of a primary school in Budim\u00edr.
