The EEA Civil Society Fund Slovakia program opens its doors to organizations that want to make Slovakia a better place. The new Small Grants Call offers nearly one million euros for initiatives focused on protecting democracy, the rule of law, and supporting people in vulnerable situations. Applications may be submitted on a rolling basis.
Small grants are intended for civil society organizations that are actively engaged in addressing current challenges—ranging from the decline of democratic principles to the integration of refugees.
A total of 990,000 euros has been allocated to support projects, and applications may be submitted on an ongoing basis until the funds are exhausted.
Objectives of the call
The call for proposals is part of a broader effort to support a vibrant, resilient, and engaged civil society in Slovakia. It emphasizes the protection of the public interest, building trust in democratic institutions, and involving citizens in decision-making processes.
The grants are intended to support activities in areas such as:
- information and media literacy,
- protection of human rights and minorities,
- advocacy and watchdog activities,
- expert analyses of legislation,
- strategic communication.
Long-term social impact
The program also addresses the impacts of the war in Ukraine and the need to support the integration of refugees in Slovakia. The call for proposals therefore includes initiatives focused on social inclusion, equal opportunities, combating disinformation, and strengthening social cohesion.
Special attention is given to organizations that work with:
- Roma communities,
- women and LGBTIQ+ individuals,
- people with disabilities.
“Through this call for proposals, we aim to strengthen organizations that are able to respond professionally and systematically to complex social challenges and the erosion of democratic principles. Our goal is to support initiatives with a long-term social impact.”
Veronika Záhradníková, programová manažérka EEA Civil Society Fund Slovakia.
