The Carpathian Foundation is a unique regional nonprofit organization and the only one in Slovakia that operates primarily in eastern Slovakia—the Košice and Prešov regions.
We are from Eastern Slovakia, and we care deeply about this part of Slovakia, the people who live here, and the natural, cultural, and historical heritage that we protect and build upon. Our mission is to guide people and organizations toward taking responsibility for themselves, their community, the region, and the future.
Since our establishment in 1994, we have been providing financial support, education, and consulting services to active individuals and nonprofit organizations with the goal of improving life in eastern Slovakia. Over the years, we have supported more than a thousand projects with a total of more than 3 million euros.
We bring innovative solutions to local problems in eastern Slovakia so that people living in the region can lead successful and fulfilling lives. We share our experience, create networks, and build the expertise of third-sector organizations—both in Slovakia and abroad, particularly in Ukraine.
We develop innovative ways to engage people and businesses in the development of the Eastern Slovakia region. We strive to secure as much financial support as possible for local projects and the active individuals who are working to create a better life in this part of Slovakia.
⋙ We are a member of OdPerinky, a platform for early childhood development that brings together organizations and professionals working with children ages 0 to 8. Its goal is to develop a comprehensive system of support for early childhood development.
⋙ We are a member of the prestigious International Carpathian Foundation Network and Giving Europe, a network of 20 organizations operating in 20 European countries. The network enables corporate and individual donors based in Giving Europe member countries to financially support nonprofit organizations in other countries within the network while taking advantage of local tax benefits.
⋙ Since 2016, we have been an observer of the Platform of Development Organizations – Ambrela. In 2017, we became a member of the Eastern Partnership Civil Society Forum, where we are represented on the Executive Committee and also coordinate one of the working groups.
⋙ Since 2019, we have been a member of the Carpathian Civil Society Platform and Hub.
