Roman Eštočák

„Averdženo tut šaj del goďi, averdženo tut šaj del drom, no manušes tutar mušines te kerel ča tu jekh.“ (Someone can advise you, someone can guide you, but you have to make a person out of yourself on your own.)

This is one of the favourite proverbs that Roman often says to colleagues, friends, or his son.

Roman earned his doctorate at the St. Elizabeth College of Health and Social Work in Bratislava. He has been dedicated to field social work and working with marginalized Roma communities for years. He has experience in managing a community center, a non-governmental organization, consulting project plans and strategies to help the poorest, supervising helping professions and mentoring students and parents. He is also a teacher and translator of the Roma language. Additionally, he works at the Carpathian Foundation in the Roma Communities Development Programme.
